Snow switcher module for Sider - version 1.0
requires: Sider 3.4.2
This is a very simple example of how a random snow switch can be done: when stadium conditions are determined before the match, the module checks if it is rain and winter, and then switches rain to snow with approximately 50% chance.

if you use stadium-server by @zlac, then you need to make sure that you put snow-mod.lua above StadiumServer.lua in sider.ini. Like this:
lua.module = "snow-mod.lua"
lua.module = "StadiumServer.lua"

Credit: Juce and @Ethan2 and @kilay - for ideas and questions about snow mod.
And to whoever made the original art work: the snow particles and snowed pitch - unfortunately i don't know who that was.

One caveat: if you save a replay (with snow or rain during winter), then when you go back to Replay Gallery and watch it - it will also be a random flip between snow and rain: so you may watch it one time with rain, then load it again, and it will be snow, and so on. (but it's kinda fun that way too)

If anybody wants to take this module as a starting point and make it more interesting - feel free to do so. Some ideas could be:

  • vary snow probability, depending on what tournament it is (maybe in Italy it shouldn't snow as often as in the Netherlands wink2.gif )
  • inter-module communication: maybe set a flag in context object - for ball server to use a special orange ball
  • ...

By Ethan2:
Hi guys, thanks to juce now we have a more realistic game with weather, I made some changes by replacing .dds, because today a so snowy field is quite unrealistic since covered roofs or heated fields are used. So I managed to have two playing fields, one with little snow in the day and one with a little more snow at night, it seems more realistic ...what do you think?
This is images is new situation with snow:

The photos do not show well the falling snow and the field lines, anyway it's ok, So there's no need to change orange balls either
Then I also changed the pitch .bsm which has a very realistic effect and slows very much the ball as it should be
I hope you like this small work and I post here link if you want to try:
